We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Agribusiness and Project Management Intern to join our team. This internship provides hands-on exposure to agribusiness operations, project planning, implementation, and monitoring, offering valuable practical experience in a professional environment.

Position: Agribusiness and Project Management Intern

Reporting to: Digital Project Manager

1. Job Summary

The Agribusiness and Project Management Intern will support the effective implementation of the Agri-Climate Finance Project and related agricultural finance initiatives within VisionFund Tanzania. The role provides technical and administrative assistance in value chain analysis, product refinement support, stakeholder coordination, documentation, and performance monitoring.

In parallel, the Intern will support the Project Management function in coordinating ongoing digital transformation initiatives by tracking timelines, deliverables, risks, and interdependencies.

The position is designed to provide structured exposure to agricultural finance, climate-resilient lending models, value chain development, and project management within a regulated financial institution.

2. Learning and Development Exposure

The internship provides practical exposure to:

· Climate-resilient agricultural finance models.

· Agricultural product development and refinement processes.

· Value chain analysis and market research methodologies.

· Cross-functional collaboration within a microfinance bank.

· Digital transformation and structured project management frameworks.

This role is structured to build foundational competencies in agribusiness finance, product support, and project coordination while contributing meaningfully to strategic institutional initiatives.

3. Key Responsibilities and Expected Results

3.1 Agri-Climate Project Coordination (40%)

Key Activities:

· Support day-to-day coordination of Agri-Climate Finance Project activities.

· Assist in tracking implementation milestones against the approved project plan.

· Prepare meeting minutes, action trackers, and follow-up reports.

· Support engagement with internal teams (Credit, Risk, Operations, Marketing) and external stakeholders as guided by the Digital Project Manager.

Expected Results:

· Timely tracking of project milestones.

· Updated action tracker with clear accountability and closure rates.

· Accurate and timely documentation of meetings and implementation progress.

3.2 Value Chain Research and Product Support (20%)

Key Activities:

· Assist in collecting and consolidating data for agricultural value chain analysis.

· Support market research and field data compilation relating to smallholder farmers and agri-enterprises.

· Contribute to documentation supporting refinement of agricultural loan products.

· Support analysis of trends affecting agricultural lending (seasonality, pricing, climate risks).

Expected Results:

· Consolidated value chain data reports.

· Updated product refinement documentation.

· Evidence-based insights supporting agricultural product improvements.

3.3 Digital Project Tracking and Administration (30%)

Key Activities:

· Assist in tracking digital project timelines, deliverables, and dependencies.

· Support consolidation of project dashboards and status reports.

· Maintain organized digital project documentation and version control.

· Support preparation of presentations and management updates.

Expected Results:

· Updated project dashboards and reports.

· Improved visibility of project risks and delays.

· Organized and accessible project documentation repository.

3.4 Regulatory & Business Conduct (10%)

· Uphold VFT’s values, policies, and Code of Conduct at all times.

· Maintain confidentiality of project, client, and institutional information.

· Support compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks.

· Proactively escalate risks, data gaps, or compliance concerns to the reporting manager.

Expected Results:

· Full adherence to institutional policies.

· No breach of confidentiality or compliance standards.

4. Qualifications and Competencies

4.1 Academic Requirements

· A recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Agriculture, or a closely related field from a recognized university (preferably with strong exposure to agricultural value chains and farm economics).

4.2 Technical Competencies

· Foundational understanding of agricultural value chains and smallholder farming systems.

· Basic knowledge of agribusiness finance and rural market dynamics.

· Strong data consolidation and analytical skills.

· Basic understanding of project management principles (planning, tracking, reporting).

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

4.3 Behavioural Competencies

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Attention to detail and structured documentation ability.

· Effective written and verbal communication skills.

· High integrity and professional conduct.

· Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.

· Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
